Why a Consultation Might Be the Most Important Appointment You Make

Maybe you’ve never been to a med spa before and have absolutely no idea where to start.

Or maybe you’ve been coming to us for years.

Either way, there are times when the best thing you can book isn’t a treatment. It’s a conversation.

At Carla Thomas Med Spa, consultations have become one of the most valuable parts of what we do. They give us the chance to slow down, look at what’s actually going on, talk about what has changed, and make sure the treatments or products you’re considering still make sense for you.

Because your skin changes. Your body changes. Your hormones, lifestyle, stress levels, medications, priorities and budget can change, too.

Your treatment plan should be allowed to change with them.

Consultations Aren’t Just for New Patients

There’s a common misconception that a consultation is something you do once, before your first Botox appointment, facial or aesthetic treatment.

We don’t see it that way.

If you’re an existing patient and suddenly dealing with acne you never had before, noticing changes in your skin texture, wondering why your skincare routine isn’t working like it used to, or simply feeling like something is different—come talk to us.

The same goes for your wellness goals.

You don’t need to know exactly what treatment you want before you walk through our door. In fact, sometimes we’d rather you didn’t.

Instead of coming in saying, “I think I need this,” you can come in saying, “Here’s what’s bothering me. What do you think?”

That gives us somewhere much better to start.

Sometimes the Answer Is Different Than You Expected

This is one of the reasons Carla values consultations so much.

A good medical aesthetics consultation isn’t about finding something to sell you. It’s about figuring out what will actually help.

You might come in asking about injectables and discover that improving your skin quality is the better first step. You might think you need a more aggressive treatment when a thoughtful skincare plan makes more sense. Or you may simply need help understanding your options and deciding what fits your goals, comfort level and timeline.

And sometimes the recommendation may be to wait.

That’s valuable information, too.

Your Face Isn’t a Trend

There will always be a new treatment, product or viral before-and-after on your feed.

But what works beautifully for someone on Instagram isn’t automatically the right choice for you.

At Carla Thomas Med Spa, our approach to medical aesthetics is personal and conservative. Carla brings more than 20 years of medical experience to the conversation, and our goal is never to make you look like someone else.

We want you to look refreshed, healthy and like yourself.

That starts with understanding the person sitting in front of us—not choosing a treatment from a menu.

When Should You Book Another Consultation?

Anytime you feel like your goals have changed.

Maybe you’ve noticed new pigmentation, dryness, breakouts or signs of aging. Maybe an upcoming wedding, reunion or milestone has you thinking differently about your skin. Maybe you’re curious about Botox or Jeuveau, chemical peels, facials, skincare or wellness treatments but don’t know what belongs in your plan.

Or maybe it has simply been a while.

You do not have to be a new patient to book a consultation at Carla Thomas Med Spa.

Think of it as a reset: a chance for us to check in, answer your questions and make sure what we’re doing still makes sense for where you are now.
